Robyn Mineko Williams
Robyn Mineko Williams is a dance artist from Chicago, IL. After a 17 year career dancing for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, River North Dance Company and Aszure Barton and Artists, Robyn turned her focus to directing and producing work of her own, aka creating from the other side of the lens. She has been commissioned to make pieces for Pacific Northwest Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Royal New Zealand Ballet, Malpaso Dance Company, Ballet Idaho, Charlotte Ballet. and others and has had her work presented at the Kennedy Center, Harris Theater for Music and Dance, Jacob’s Pillow, American Dance Festival, the Joyce Theater, MCA Chicago and more. In 2015, Robyn founded Robyn Mineko Williams and Artists as a platform to delve further into her love for collaboration and presentation of live art in public spaces. She has worked alongside an array of musicians, designers, filmmakers, and visual artists including Manual Cinema, Hogan McLaughlin, Califone, Ohmme, Verger, Kyle Vegter, the Second City, Alicia Walter, and Aitis Band. Named by Dance Magazine in 2014 as one of “25 to Watch” and “Best Choreographer” by Chicago Mag’s “Best of Chicago, 2016”, Robyn is a Princess Grace Foundation-USA grant recipient and has been recognized multiple times as one of NewCity’s Players: 50 People Who Really Perform for Chicago. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to create on SDC.
